Moto X is one of the best phones in the market right now. Fast, smooth and exceptional features. This is my review of Moto X after using it for over three months.

Motorola’s Moto X arrived India in March 2014 (7 months after its official launch) through its online partner Flipkart.com  The phone is exclusively available on Flipkart.com to the Indian consumers for Rs. 23,999. Moto X is one of the best phones available with some exceptional features. This is my Moto X review after using it for over three months.

Pros:

1. Smooth and Fast: I have installed 69 apps (including games and a launcher) but i have never experienced any lag, not even a single time on my Moto X.

Moto X Active Display

Active Display: Check time and Notifications on Moto X without even touching the screen or any button

2. Active Display: Check time and notifications without unlocking the phone or even touching it. Just take out your Moto X from your pocket or pick it up from the table and you will see Time and Notifications.

You can then press the screen if you want to see more detail of the notifications. Active display on Moto X  not only looks cool but is very useful.

3. Quick Capture: Shake (Twist) the phone twice and your Moto X will launch the camera even if the phone screen is locked. And guess what, it works every single time.

Moto X Touchless Control

Moto X Touchless Control: Just talk, it’s always listening to you

4. Touchless Control: That’s right, you don’t have to touch or press any button to activate or launch this on your Moto X. Just say “OK Google Now” (even if the phone screen is locked) and Set alarm, Launch apps, play music or ask Questions and it works as advertised, always. (You need a good internet connection though)

Your Moto X is always listening to you, always.

5. Find my phone: Can’t find your phone?? just say “OK Google Now, Find my phone” Isn’t that cool?

TECHNICAL: Moto X runs on the outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core processor but suprise!! its performance will stun you.. probably because it is backed by a dedicated GPU (a quad-core Adreno 320 GPU) and a ‘natural language processor’ and a ‘contextual computing processor’. So Moto X actually has 4 processors.

6. Motorola Connect: Install this Google Chrome extension and get call notifications, read and reply texts from your laptop. Very useful when I am working and I don’t have to look at my phone to check who’s calling or messaged.

7. Gorilla Glass: Moto X screen is scratch proof so no need for a screen guard. I don’t use it but if you want to be extra cautious you can put one.

8. Water-Resistant: Although I have never dropped my phone in water but I have read from many people on forums giving positive feedback on this. Remember Moto X is water resistant (not water Proof).

Moto Assist

Moto Assist – it knows when you are driving, sleeping or are in a meeting

9. Moto Assist: Your Moto X automatically detects when you are driving and reads out caller names (Accept or ignore), read texts and reply to texts, all without touching your phone.

If you have meeting on your calendar, your Moto X will automatically go to silent mode or send text to callers (you can customize the settings). And set your sleep time and the phone will go to silent mode during that time everyday.

10. Amoled Display: Very clear display and helps save battery on your Moto X.

Cons:

1) No FM Radio

2) No SD Card Slot

3) Only 16 GB internal memory and can’t expand with SD Card.

4) No Smart Screen: so the screen goes off after the set time. (Install “Keep Screen on”)

5) Average Camera

TIPS – Simple tweaks to improve your Moto X experience

1) Install the app “Keep Screen On” this will keep the screen on when you are reading something or looking a picture. (you can set on which apps to keep the screen on)

2) Change the runtime from Dalvik to ART (from settings): phone will be faster and more stable. Note: a few apps may not work on ART.

About Flipkart.com

If you are in India, you will not find Moto X at any stores (online or offline) because it is exclusively available on Flipkart. Flipkart is one of the most popular online shopping stores in India. Flipkart is known for its reliable and credible service.

I ordered my phone in the evening around 4:45PM and opted for the “in-a-day guarantee” for which I had to pay an extra Rs.140/-  The standard shipping is free and may take upto 3 to 4 business days. As I ordered my purchase in the evening I was told I would receive my phone by tomorrow afternoon.

The next day I received my Moto X at 1:30PM Great service I must say!!  The “in-a-day guarantee” shipping is not available for some cities and of course not available for places outside city.

Conclusion: Moto X is an amazing phone with amazing features. Trust me, you will fall in love with it.  <3
